Welcome to
Special Olympics Ohio
Medina County
The mission of Special Olympics Ohio-Medina County is to provide year-round sports training and competition. Our program starts with children aged 8 to adults with intellectual disabilities. Using various Olympic-type sports, our athletes are given continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness. In addition to demonstrating courage, they experience joy and share gifts, skills, and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
- Special Olympics Ohio - Medina County (SOMC) is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization.
- SOMC offers 18 different year-round athletic programs within Medina County.
- The minimum age requirement for participation in competition and training is 8 years old.
Special Olympics Medina offers programs throughout the year, both indoors and outdoors. No matter your age or skill level, there’s a sport for you! Many athletes start with one sport and later explore others, discovering new passions along the way.
Through sports, our athletes focus on their abilities rather than limitations. They gain confidence, build skills, and experience the power of inclusion and acceptance. As part of the world’s most welcoming community, they make lasting friendships and become part of a global movement that continues to grow every day.
