Due to Covid-19 Numbers
Effective December 28, 2020
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and our focus on the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, families, volunteers, and the entire community, Special Olympics Ohio has made the decision to extend the suspension of all in-person activities including practices, competition, and in-person social engagements until February 8th, 2021. We will continue to observe and evaluate the current COVID-19 climate, monitor the vaccination distribution, and make any further decisions and announcements toward the end of January.
We are hopeful with the holiday season coming to an end and the expansion of vaccine distribution that we will be able to return to activities in February.
There were numerous factors considered in this decision including the rising rates of COVID-19 throughout the state of Ohio, reported outbreaks in our Special Olympics Ohio community and staff, OHSAA guidelines, and the guidelines and mandates set forth by the Governor of Ohio.
Please encourage athletes to remain connected through virtual opportunities such as the Fitness Influencer Challenge, the virtual activities offered on We Thrive Together, and additional engagement opportunities that will be provided in the New Year.
